Ce documentaire nous présente la campagne qui a précédé les élections présidentielles au Sénégal, en février 2007, à travers les yeux d’artistes de hip-hop des environs de Dakar. On y mêle entrevues, improvisations et commentaires de journalistes, d’artistes et de politiciens. À l’origine, il avait été conçu comme une série de courts métrages devant être distribués par Internet.

This documentary looks at the presidential election campaign of February 2007, in Senegal through the eyes of hip-hop artists around Dakar. It mixes interviews, freestyles, and commentary from journalists, artists and politicians. It was originally shot as a series of shorts distributed via the internet.

BEN HERSON

Fondateur et directeur de l’étiquette Nomadic Wax, Ben Herson est aussi producteur et musicien. Il a cofondé, en 2004, le Festival international de hip-hop de Trinity, premier festival du genre aux États-Unis.

Founder and director of Nomadic Wax, Herson is also an internationally celebrated producer and musician. In 2004, he also co-founded the Trinity International Hip-Hop festival, the first free international hiphop festival in the United States.

MAGEE MCILVAINE

concentre de plus en plus son travail sur la politique internationale et l’utilisation de la musique, surtout le hip-hop, comme outil politique. Il a cofondé avec Nomadic Wax et Trinity College, le Festival international de hip-hop Trinity sur lequel il prépare d’ailleurs un film.

Magee has increasingly focused his work on international politics and the use of music, particularly hip hop music, as a political tool. He also co-founded, together with Nomadic Wax and Trinity College, the Trinity International Hip Hop Festival and Conference and is currently working on a film about this groundbreaking event.

CHRIS MOORE

Cofondateur de Sol Productions, une maison de production à but non lucratif, il a tourné ses trois premiers films sur trois différents continents; un 4e le mènera au Cambodge. Il donne des conférences sur la démocratie et la résolution de conflits et sur le rôle que peut jouer le cinéma dans ces deux sphères.

Chris Moore co-founded Sol Productions, a non profit film production company. His first 3 documentaries were shot on 3 different continents. He lectures on democracy and conflict resolution, and the role filmmaking can play in both of those areas. His fourth film will take him to Cambodia.
