Gustav et Luca vivent à Rome, filant le parfait amour depuis huit ans. En 2007, le gouvernement italien propose une loi qui donnerait aux concubins et aux couples gais les mêmes droits qu’aux couples mariés. Une vague d’homophobie envahit alors la Ville éternelle. Un an plus tard, aucune loi n’est encore adoptée. Les deux cinéastes passeront des mois à suivre cette saga sociopolitique et ses répercussions sur leur couple. Journal intime à saveur politique, le film retrace avec beaucoup d’humour le parcours du combattant de ces deux Candide.

The life of Gustav and Luca changes when the Italian government presents a draft law that grant rights to unmarried and gay couples, prompting a wave of homophobia in Italy. The Vatican and conservatives fight against it, preaching that the end of morality and «family» is inevitable if the legalization on civil unions is not blocked. Partners for more then eight years, Luca and Gustav want to understand the different arguments for and against this law, and undertake a journey into a country they did not know and did not expect to find: their own.

GUSTAV HOFER

Né à Sarentino, il a étudié en communications à Vienne et en cinéma, à Londres. Il vit à Rome. En 2001, il travaille pour Arte, comme correspondant culturel pour l’Italie, puis en 2005, il réalise une quotidienne culturelle. Il a déjà réalisé plusieurs films.

Gustav Hofer was born in Sarentino, Italy; he studied Communication Science in Vienna, and cinema, in London. He lives in Rome. In 2001, he starts working with ARTE as correspondent for Italian culture. In January 2005, he directs for the same network a daily cultural program. He has already directed several films.

LUCA RAGAZZI

Né à Rome, il a un diplôme en Lettres et Philosophie de l’Université La Sapienza. Il est journaliste, critique de cinéma et photographe depuis nombre d’années. C’est sa première expérience en réalisation de film.

Luca Ragazzi was born in Rome and has a degree in Humanities from La Sapienza University. He has been a journalist, film critic and photographer for many years.
