À Athénes, quarante familles Roms sont forcées d'abandonner leur maison, car le terrain doit être transformé en stationnement en prévision des Jeux olympiques d'été de 2004. Le film suit Prokopis Nikolaou, qui a toujours vécu dans ce quartier, et qui devient le porte-parole de ces familles à qui on avait promis aide et argent.
With the Athens 2004 Summer Olympics just over a year away, forty Gypsy families are forced to abandon their settlement next to the main Olympic stadium so that the land can be used for a parking lot. The film follows Prokopis Nikolau, a produce vendor who lived his entire life in this settlement, as he struggles to find a new home for himself and his family.

Cameron Hickey et Lauren Feeney sont cofondateurs de Pattern Films, une société cinématographique qui se consacre à la production de documentaires sociaux. Garlic and Watermelons est leur premier long-métrage. Ils tournent actuellement leur prochain film dans les vallées Kalash, au nord du Pakistan. Avant de fonder Pattern, Lauren et Cameron ont participé à la production de Naqoyqatsi, le dernier volet de la trilogie de Qatsi.
Cameron Hickey est le créateur derrière le site Web docsite.org. Par ailleurs, il a assuré l'animation du film Crossover et réalisé Xerizomeni .
Après ses études en écriture documentaire et en photographie au Bard College de New York, Lauren Feeny a travaillé pour plusieurs publications littéraires ou journalistiques, et s'est enfin décidée à pénétrer le monde du cinéma documentaire.
Cameron Hickey and Lauren Feeney are the co-founders of Pattern Films, a company dedicated to the production of socially-motivated documentary. Garlic and Watermelons is their first feature. Their next film, set in the Kalash Valleys of Northern Pakistan, is currently in production. Before forming Pattern, Lauren and Cameron both worked on the film Naqoyqatsi , the third film in the Qatsi trilogy.
Cameron Hickey is the founder of docsite.org. His previous work can be seen in the films Crossover (animation), and Xerizomeni (director).
Lauren Feeney studied non-fiction creative writing and photography at Bard College in New York and worked at several news and literary journals before finding her way into the world of documentary filmmaking.
