Nestor et les oubliés trace le portrait de Louis-Joseph Hébert, alias Nestor, personnage qu'on a pu découvrir dans le film Roger Toupin, épicier variété . Orphelin de la période de Duplessis au charisme indéniable et au verbe imagé, Nestor fascine par son allure de vieux motard excentrique, par son amour des gens et de la vie, et surtout par la force de son instinct de survie. Nestor est un battant, un survivant attachant qui impose le respect. Aujourd'hui, il soutient ses ex-compagnons de l'orphelinat d'Huberdeau dans leur lutte pour regagner leur dignité perdue. Un combat entre David et Goliath où rires, larmes et fraternité s'entremêlent quotidiennement.
The film is a portrait of Louis-Joseph Hébert, a.k.a. Nestor, a Duplessis-era orphan. With undeniable charisma and words full of colourful imagery, Nestor fascinates with his allure of an old, eccentric biker. But above all, his love of life and people and his instinct for survival complete his portrait. Nestor is a fighter, an engaging survivor who fully earns others’ respect. Today, he supports his friends from the Huberdeau orphanage in their fight to reclaim their lost dignity. In this David-and-Goliath struggle tears, laughter and fraternity come together every day.
Benoit Pilon :
Benoit Pilon est né à Montréal en 1962. Après un Bac en cinéma à l'Université Concordia où son film La Rivière Rit est primé Meilleur film de fiction au Festival du film étudiant canadien, Benoit Pilon a co-fondé en 1988 Les Films de l'autre, une compagnie de production dédiée au film d’auteur. Parallèlement à une carrière d'assistant-réalisateur qui l'amène à travailler avec, entre autres, Charles Binamé, Jean Beaudin, André Melançon, Robert Favreau, Jean Beaudry et Claude Gagnon, Benoit Pilon a réalisé plusieurs films : Regards volés (1994), Rosaire et la Petite-Nation (1997); Roger Toupin, épicier variété (2003).
Benoit Pilon was born in Montreal in 1962. After earning a B.A in film at Concordia University, where his short film La Rivière Rit won the award for best fictional film at the Canadian student film festival in 1988, Benoit Pilon founded Les Films de l'autre, a production company dedicated to independent auteur films. Parallel to his career as an assistant director, which led him to work with some of the best directors in Quebec, Benoit Pilon directed several movies: Regards volés (1994, R osaire et la Petite-Nation (1997), Roger Toupin, épicier variété (2003).
