Sanjna Singh
Originaire de Mumbai, Sanjna Singh s’est rendue aux États-Unis à l’âge de 17 ans pour entamer une carrière en cinéma. Elle est diplômée du Bryn Mawr College (2000) et travaille depuis plusieurs années dans l’industrie du cinéma à Philadelphie. En 2004, elle s’est jointe au projet «Involve» du volet documentaire de l’IFP. Elle travaille depuis trois dans les studios de HBO. Elle a fondé Chai Break Films avec Pia Sawhney en 2003; Out of Status est leur premier court-métrage.
Born in Mumbai, Sanjna Singh left at 17 for the US to pursue a career in film. She graduated from Bryn Mawr College in 2000 and has worked during and after college in the film industry in Philadelphia. She is enrolled in IFP's Project «Involve» Documentary Unit in spring 2004. She has worked for the past three years at HBO Studios. She founded Chai Break Films in 2003 with fellow Bryn Mawr graduate Pia Sawhney. Out of Status is their first short film.
Pia Sawhney
Pia Sawhney travaille dans le documentaire depuis quatre ans. Elle a suivi des études au Bryn Mawr College, et termine actuellement un diplôme en journalisme de diffusion à l’Université de New York. Sawhney a récemment été acceptée au projet Involve de l’IFP, à New York. Elle a vécu aux États-Unis, en Inde et au Moyen-Orient. Productrice pigiste, elle collabore depuis peu avec Jennifer Fox pour une production qui sera diffusée sur le réseau HBO l’an prochain. Le court-métrage Out of Status a été présenté à Rotterdam et Édimbourg, ainsi que dans les festivals de cinéma d’Amnistie internationale.
Pia has worked in documentary for four years, and most recently on a production for Jennifer Fox, which will air on HBO next year. Pia's short film Out of Status, with co-producer Sanjna Singh, played at the Rotterdam, Edinburgh, and Amnesty film festivals among others. She was accepted to IFP New York's Project Involve workshop, and attended Bryn Mawr College. She has lived in the US, India, and the Middle East. Pia is completing a graduate degree in broadcast journalism part-time at New York University, and works as a freelance producer.
