Ganga is the most sacred river in India. In its basin live more than 400 million people, concentrating the highest population of poor people in the world. For centuries, the Ganges River has provided nourishment for the people. But in the age of globalisation, the river is threatened by the Tehri Dam project and the displacement of over 100 000 Indian villagers.
