Gevald shows the current situation of the gay community in Jerusalem. Faced with the ultra-orthodox community's hostility and with only moderate support from the city council, the gay community attempts to assert its position within conservative Jerusalem society.

This film won the second prize of the films from Israel at the Second International Short Film Competition organised by the Foundation “Remembrance, Responsibility and Future” and the Goethe-Institut in 2007 to mark the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Netalie Braun
Born in 1978, Netalie Braun has a BA in comparative literature and philosophy and a MA in film from the University of Tel Aviv. Presently she is studying directing at the Chambers Theatre School and teaching at the University of Tel Aviv's film institute. She wrote and directed two short films (The Last Supper, 2004; Core, 2005) and a documentary (Metamorphosis, 2006). In addition, she publishes poems and short stories in various literary magazines. She has also published a poetry volume called Kill and Breathe.
